The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for filing and tracking insurance claims, resolving disputes with insurance companies, and assisting with payment postings. They must ensure timely research and resolution of all aging, denied, and rejected claims.
Candidates should have a minimum of a high school diploma and two years of experience in a medical billing office. A Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coder (CPC) certification is preferred.
Alaska Heart & Vascular Institute (AHVI) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our in-office Business Office team in Anchorage. This role is ideal for a billing professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to deepen their expertise in cardiology billing across outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory settings. As part of a highly knowledgeable team of coders, billers, and clinical professionals, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. PAY RANGE: $23-33/HR dependent upon experience and education. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Business Office Manager. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Complete, thorough, and timely research and resolution of all aging, denied, rejected claims Electronic and paper claim submission. Including all appropriate EOBs and required or supporting documentation. Complete and thorough understanding of all EOBs, payer policies, AHVI polices and processes for proper responses to payer requests and denials, and patient inquiries Complete understanding of and adherence to AHVI collections and financial assistance program policies and processes. Professional and HIPAA compliant interactions with patients, insurance companies, Alaska Heart & Vascular Institute (AHVI) providers and staff, outside healthcare professionals and other agencies.
