The SBIRT Specialist conducts Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) using evidence-based practices, while also providing brief suicide assessments and safety planning for at-risk individuals. Responsibilities include coordinating services, making warm handoffs to other agencies or in-house departments, and ensuring timely clinical and billing documentation.
require a high school diploma or equivalent plus two years of behavioral health service experience, or a bachelor's degree with one year of experience, specifically including work with American Indian and/or Alaskan Native populations. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a human service field and experience providing behavioral health screening tools.
Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based practice used to identify, reduce, and prevent problematic use, abuse and dependence on alcohol and drugs. It also screens individuals for depression, suicide, trauma, and tobacco use. The SBIRT Specialist will be the Point of Contact (POC) for the individual and/or family to coordinate services at FNA or other community agencies providing a warm hand off with the intake department, assessment, or other community service.
Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) Early Intervention (SBIRT) provides services to all ethnicities of children, adolescents, and adults in an effort to reduce alcohol and other drug use through early intervention. Services are provided within FNA and community sites identified by the Behavioral Health Community Coalition.
