The Physical Therapy Assistant provides direct physical therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, focusing on treating patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain maximum performance. Responsibilities include directing therapeutic exercises, utilizing various physical agents, and instructing patients on the use of assistive devices.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate’s degree approved by the APTA, maintain current CPR certification, and hold the required state license or certification. A valid driver's license and insured automobile are also mandatory for this position.
Job Title/Position: Physical Therapy Assistant
Reports to: Physical Therapist or Rehab Director
The physical therapy assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician's plan of care (or other authorized licensed independent practitioner) plan of care.
1. Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an Associate’s degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.
2. Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
3. Current certification or license as required by state law.
4. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
