The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care across adult, neonatal, and outpatient settings, which includes assessing patient respiratory status using clinical data like X-rays and ABG values. Duties involve setting up and monitoring mechanical ventilators, managing airways, performing arterial punctures, and analyzing blood gases.
Candidates must be graduates from an accredited respiratory therapy education program and licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the Georgia Composite Medical Board, holding NBRC RRT credential. Required certifications include American Heart Association’s BLS and ACLS.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist at Northside Hospital independently provides various respiratory therapy treatments and procedures in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Composite Medical Boad. The Northside Hospital Registered Respiratory Therapist manages care for an assigned group of patients including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, and adult or neonatal intensive care area with completed competency in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Northside Hospital.
