This role involves supporting a high-volume ophthalmic practice by performing comprehensive ophthalmic technical skills, including diagnostic testing, patient preparation, and assisting with minor and refractive surgeries. Key duties also include accurate data entry into the EMR, providing advanced patient education, and managing the escalation and triage of urgent patient needs.
Candidates must possess strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with the ability to make independent decisions in a clinical setting. A minimum of 7 years of ophthalmic technician experience is preferred, and possession of the COT certification is required, with COMT being preferred.

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.
This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making. Ophthalmic skills include: Obtaining and documenting patient history Determining visual acuity Performing automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes Retinoscopy and refinement for prescribing purposes Advanced lensometry Logarithmic pupillary assessment Static & kinetic visual field testing PAM, BAT, and advanced ocular motility assessment Manual keratometry Osmolarity testing Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient services Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry) Pre-operative preparation of patient Maintenance and repair of equipment and instruments Perform ocular imaging including OCT, Topography, fundus photography Preparation of surgical instruments and equipment Aseptic technique Operating room assistance for minor and refractive surgeries Preparation and labeling of microscope slide and culture media obtained by physician Performing amblyopia treatment including patching, drops, and prism Intraocular lens power calculations Post-operative education Escalation and triage of urgent patient needs/care Patient education, advanced refracting skills including over-refraction of contact lenses, contact lens fit/adjustment, advanced slit lamp technique A-scan diagnostic measurements Biometry measurements
