The optometrist will perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose sight problems, and prescribe corrective measures like eyeglasses, contact lenses, or medications. Key duties also involve establishing long-term patient relationships through education and coordinating care with support staff and other healthcare providers.
Candidates must possess a Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution and have successfully passed all state optometric board examinations. The role requires the ability to practice to the full scope of the license, including patient care, diagnosis, and treatment recommendation.
