The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) functions as a non-licensed team member supporting the registered nurse by providing direct care to designated patients. Duties include assisting with activities of daily living, mobility support, continuous observation including suicide prevention, and maintaining a clean patient environment.
Candidates must possess current Basic Life Support certification and knowledge of care appropriate to the age of patients served, along with up-to-date knowledge of patient care procedures and standards. The role demands strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to handle high stress and frequent interruptions, and proficiency in organizing tasks and exercising judgment.
