The technician performs non-invasive neurological patient testing according to established standards, while consistently utilizing a holistic approach for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities also include evaluating patient educational needs, thorough documentation, and communicating with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
Candidates need a diploma or degree in polysomnography or electroneurodiagnostics, or completion of a degree and licensure in healthcare, along with at least six months of experience in a Sleep Disorders Center preferred. Required credentials include BLS, Registered Electroneurodiagnostics Technician or Registered Polysomnography Technician registration (or eligibility), and obtaining Iowa licensure within the first year.
Is aware of department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (eg. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or administrative staff. Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the organization’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity. Demonstrates a positive cooperative attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to change to meet department goals. Provide whole person, integrated care with primary focus on the treatment of mental health conditions within an outpatient clinic. Work collaboratively with psychiatric providers, reception and scheduling staff, care coordinators, and other team members to ensure client needs are met. Job tasks include rooming patients, completing health questionnaires (vital signs, medications, mental health symptoms, concurrent physical health or substance use disorders, etc.), processing refill requests, communicating assessment results, lab reports, pharmacy inquiries, and client concerns with psychiatric providers. Performs additional duties as may be assigned to ensure complete service to all customers.
Education Iowa LPN or RN required Qualifications/Experience Experience with persons in recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorders preferred. Must demonstrate creative and solid decision-making skills, compassion, and contribute to a positive office culture. Iowa Driver’s License required.
