The pharmacist is responsible for controlling, dispensing and distributing medicine. They work to legal and ethical guidelines to ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products to the patients of the clinic. They are involved in maintaining and improving people's health by providing advice and information as well as supplying prescription medicines. Pharmacists also instruct patients and staff on the use of medicines and medical appliances.
Duties: & responsibilites
1. The pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medicines to the patients; ensuring that different treatments are compatible; checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled and supervising the preparation of any medicines. Maintains confidentiality of patient and organization information.
2. Directs technicians appropriately for proper workflow; and checks and assumes responsibility for medication orders filled by technicians and all activities conducted in the pharmacy.
3. Demonstrates the ability to assess prescriptions for appropriateness relative to disease management.
4. Demonstrates the ability to assess prescription safety relative to patient profile (age, weight, allergy, etc.)
5. Responsible for compliance with all DCHC policies and procedures and all federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
6. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communications; and displays a superior understanding of computer applications/software used in the healthcare and pharmacy setting.
7. Responsible for proper storage, handling and management of Pharmacy inventory including all required documentation and financial management.

10. Performs other duties as assigned
Lifting, twisting, standing, bending and some activities that involve standing for long periods of time will occur. 90% of work will require some sort of physical activity to be performed. Employee may be required to travel to other locations as needed and must be willing to work various shifts to accommodate needs of various sites.
Work is normally performed inside with in the pharmacy department inside a clinic location. The employee must work with various computer applications and will be required to stand and work at least 90% of the time with a computer (desk top or laptop) and/or at a counter handling prescription related information and/or products – opportunities to sit maybe available on an intermittent basis as determined by work flow. Also, the position will require some travel and employee must have reliable transportation.
Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, communication, excellent customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, can work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed. Must follow health center and departmental policies and procedures at all times.
1. Must have completed a pharmacy internship with a community and/or retail pharmacy experience preferred but not required. 2. Specific 340B training and/or knowledge desired. 3. Certification from an accredited pharmacy program or advance training in medication management.
