The phlebotomist obtains blood samples for lab testing and performs clerical duties associated with charting and paperwork. They also perform some tests under supervision and retrieve and distribute reports according to procedure.
Candidates should have an associate degree in Science or MLT (ASCP) preferred, along with a current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification and a BCLS (CPR) certificate. A current California driver's license and vehicle insurance are also required.
Knowledge of typing and laboratory computer systems preferred.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION Associate degree in Science or MLT (ASCP) preferred.
