The specialist will complete drug utilization reviews, lead and develop pharmacy clinical services, and serve as a leader and mentor for antimicrobial management and other clinical programs. Responsibilities also include participating in adverse drug reaction reporting, quality initiatives, and leading the training of various healthcare professionals.
Candidates must be a Registered Pharmacist in Florida, with Board Certification preferred for Pharm.D. candidates and required for B.S. Pharmacist candidates, along with specialized residency or equivalent experience in oncology or a clinical specialty area. A track record of exceptional performance in leadership, clinical practice, research, and education within the specialty area is necessary.

Summary: Oncology trained, research pharmacist experience preferred Position Responsibilities Completes drug utilization reviews Leads and develops pharmacy clinical services Leader and mentor of the antimicrobial management and other clinical programs Participates in the design, collection, and reporting of adverse drug reactions, drug utilization reviews, medication errors and pharmacy quality initiatives Leads the training and mentorship of pharmacists, pharmacy students, residents, technicians, nurses and physicians Leads in preceptorship of pharmacy students and/or residents Provides and demonstrates expertise in a specialized area of pharmacy practice (operational and/or clinical). Provides advanced technical support as assigned for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systems Effectively and proactively intervenes in conflicts between pharmacy and medical staff regarding drug therapy issue resolutions. Maintains appropriate controlled substance records. Works with the Pharmacy Director appropriate manager to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed all controlled substance diversion prevention and monitoring standards. Participates in controlled substance reviews and audits. Complies with all regulatory standards. Works with the Pharmacy Director and Operations/Clinical Manager to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed all regulatory standards. Participates in quality and regulatory reviews and audits Prioritizes work and leads others to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedure . Identifies areas for improved efficiency. Assists in implementation of clinical and operational process changes. Assists in providing feedback with staff performance evaluations Acts as manager in charge as assigned Provides review and guidance on physician order sets and other evidenced based medication use guidelines Prepares pharmacy newsletters and/or other forms of written and electronic communication Performs drug class reviews and drug monographs Participates in all aspects of managing the drug formulary Leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of pharmacy operations initiatives (operational/clinical) Develops and reviews pharmacy policies and procedures Qualifications License/Registration/Certification Registered Pharmacist in the State of Florida and Board Certification preferred for a Pharm D. candidate and required for a B.S Pharmacist Candidate. Board Certification in specialty area of practice preferred. Education Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy or B.S. Pharmacy Degree from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy WITH a required Board Certification. Experience Specialized Residency (PGY-2), or Fellowship in the clinical service specialty practice area, or equivalent practice experience (completion of 4 years of practice experience in the specialized area or completion of a PGY-1 Residency plus 2 additional years of practice experience in the specialized area) Track record of exceptional performance in leadership, clinical practice, research, and education in specialty area of practice. Fully meets ASHP Residency Preceptor Requirements.
