Medical Technologist (Lab) - Part Time 8hr Varied

SUMMARY

• Medical Technologist follows procedures, performs & documents chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic, bacteriologic tests.
• Obtains accurate results within procedure limitations with a turnaround time as stated in the procedure manual.
• Follows Policy and Procedural guidelines for the communication of critical test results including the timeliness and documentation.
• Discovers & corrects problems in a timely manner.
• Corrective action documented as required.
• Communicates in a courteous & professional manner to other team members in the hospital.
• Performs & records instrumentation maintenance and calibration procedures.
• Performs quality control procedures and maintains their records.
• Ensures compliance with QC protocol for running controls & accepting results.
• Notifies supervisor with out of control, discrepant or unexpected results in a timely manner.
• Familiar with all pertinent computer procedures & contingency procedures.
• Verifies completion of work by various computer programs & assigned work is completed.
• Collects adequate venous & capillary blood specimens in a competent manner.
• Participates as instructed in the orientation of new team members.
• As requested, inventories & orders supplies as needed.
• Maintains adequate inventory of all laboratory material supplies and works toward reducing costs.
• Demonstrates flexibility in job duties.
• Assists in other areas of the laboratory and hospital as needed.
• Assumes additional or changed shift assignments when requested

Requirements

• Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience as a Clinical Lab Generalist with Blood Bank Experience preferred.
• Required License/ Certificates: Current CA CLS License required and MAB certificate required (90 days upon hire).
