The technologist performs tasks for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination, which includes logging, cutting, mounting, and staining procedures. This involves performing complex techniques to preserve and prepare specimens for pathologist diagnosis, as well as operating and maintaining specialized histology equipment.
A Bachelor's Degree is required for this role, along with 1-3 years of laboratory experience and HT/ASCP certification or eligibility, with certification required within 12 months of hire. Candidates must possess critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a potentially stressful environment.
