The Optometrist will examine eyes to determine visual acuity, diagnose diseases, and develop treatment plans, which includes prescribing and fitting vision aids and medications when permitted by law. Responsibilities also involve educating patients on eye care and consulting with other healthcare practitioners when necessary.
Candidates must possess a doctorate in optometry (OD) and hold a Massachusetts therapeutics level optometry license, along with required Massachusetts Controlled Substances certification. A minimum of five years of professional experience and public health experience are preferred, alongside a strong commitment to community wellness and excellence in patient care.
