The Physical Therapy Assistant administers various physical therapy programs under the guidance of a Licensed Physical Therapist to maximize patient function and independence. Duties include providing direct patient treatments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe work environment.
Candidates must possess an Associate’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution and hold a current PTA License in the state of practice, along with required CPR certification. The role requires physical ability to handle patients and equipment safely, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all age groups.
Administers various physical therapy programs under guidelines established by a Licensed Physical Therapist to facilitate rehabilitation of physically disabled patients, to maximize function and independence. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance performance; facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptations and productivity.
Education: Associate’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution Skills: Must possess skills consistent with the needs of the department. Years of Experience: N/A License: Current PTA License in State of practice Certification: CPR according to hospital policy
The majority of time is spent standing, bending, and providing patient care treatments. Must possess the physical ability and condition to handle patients correctly and safely. Be able to handle standard equipment in a physical therapy department.
