The Occupational Therapist functions in administrative capacities, including supervising staff, monitoring productivity, assisting with policy development, and participating in program development and performance improvement initiatives. Clinically, the role involves responding to referrals, conducting assessments, establishing treatment plans, implementing treatments, and maintaining clinical documentation.
Candidates must be graduates of an ACOTE accredited Occupational Therapy Program with a relevant degree and possess active Illinois licensure or eligibility, along with successful completion of the NBCOT certification examination. Required skills include thorough knowledge of occupational therapy application, the ability to develop treatment plans, and demonstrated clinical competence in treatment theories and modalities.

Under the administrative and clinical direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and the supervision of Supervisor of Occupational Therapy, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for assigned administrative functions in a clinical capacity, participates in the educational activities of the department, and provides for personal and professional growth and development. The Occupational Therapist reflects the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics as set forth by the Representative Assemble of the American Occupational Therapy Association. The Occupational Therapist practices within the boundaries outline in the State of Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act.

Each requirement must be a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ). In other words, required credentials must be legitimate: related to duties and neither overstated nor understated.
Duties: and Responsibilities:
1. Completes Occupational Therapy assessments in accordance with departmental and/or clinical protocol for all assigned patients and interprets results. 2. Performs specialized assessments according to protocol and/or trains, provides supervision, and assesses the competency of assigned staff. 3. Functions as a primary clinical resource for staff.
1. Establishes and appropriately modifies Occupational Therapy treatment plans for all assigned patients 2. Guides the use of Occupational Therapy theoretical framework and functions as a primary clinical resource for assigned Staff. 3. Works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team and facilitates collaborative treatment planning with assigned staff.
1. Implements treatments plans and monitors the implementation of assigned personnel. 2. Follows appropriate protocol for utilization of treatment modalities, technology and techniques, and ensures the same for assigned personnel. 3. Assists in introducing new skills and techniques congruent with Occupational Therapy theory and frame of reference 4. Demonstrates the ability to effectively achieve treatment goals within the specified timeframe. Recommends and facilitates appropriate clinical follow-up and acts as a primary clinical resource for assigned personnel.
