The technician is responsible for continuously monitoring and documenting ECG tracings to identify and report arrhythmias to registered nurses. They also manage telemetry equipment, set alarm limits, and activate Rapid Response Teams when necessary.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a current AHA BLS certification. Completion of the University of Chicago ECG course is required upon hire, while a Certified Cardiographic Technician credential is strongly preferred.

The Cardiac Telemetry Technician (CTT) works under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. The CTT observes electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings on monitored patients, reports rhythm changes and arrhythmias to the registered nurse caring for the patient, activates Rapid Response Team (RRT) and/or the physician if needed, documents rhythms and arrhythmias, and records rhythm strips and other data per policy.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
