The Behavioral Health Technician coordinates patient treatment plans and facilitates therapeutic groups within an inpatient psychiatric setting. They provide supportive care, de-escalate behavioral issues, and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for patients.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, active BLS certification, and at least two years of experience working with addiction issues. CPI certification is required upon hire or within 60 days.
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Behavioral Health Technician in the Inpatient Psychiatry department. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
With the leadership of the Director and the Clinical Supervisor, The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) works with the treatment team to ensure complete coordination of the patient treatment plan from admission through discharge. The BHT utilizes a variety of therapeutic models as appropriate to the clinical situation, but primarily has a brief therapy/cognitive behavioral therapy focus. The BHT provides assistance in regard to inappropriate behavior by any patient and works with patients who present a dual problem, Co-Occurring Substance Use, and Mental Health Disorders.
The Behavioral Health Technician will facilitate educational sessions, structured groups and psycho-educational groups in accordance with the patient's plan of care. They will utilize interactive processes, which will exceed the expectation of patients, physicians, families or significant others, and provide high-quality, cost-effective care and treatment.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
