The Monitor Technician assists in patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse by observing and monitoring heart rhythms and rates. This role requires informing nursing staff of any changes in patient status and performing setup, monitoring, and modification of the central station equipment.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Essential requirements include completing and passing a basic arrhythmia course with a minimum score of 80%.
The Monitor Technician (MT) is responsible for assisting in care of patients under the direction of an RN or LPN. The monitor technician performs duties including observing and monitoring heart rhythms and rates, informing the nursing staff of any change in patients' status.
Must possess high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Licenses/Certificate: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Complete the basic arrhythmia course.

Demonstrate how to set up, monitor and modify the central station.
Demonstrate how to run initial strip rhythms, every shift, PRN and document as scheduled.
Complete and pass the basic dysrhythmia class and test with minimum of 80%.
Demonstrate the ability to notify the nursing staff of any changes and follow the escalation policy.
Demonstrate ability to follow direction and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of nursing staff.
Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding personal, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of SARH.
Demonstrate ability to communicate all aspects of patient care with nursing staff.
Demonstrate the ability to follow all safety practices for patients at SARH and report hazards while initiating appropriate action.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and Department indicators.
Other duties as assigned.
