The RN First Assist supports continuity of care for Perioperative patients by managing preoperative care, performing intraoperative surgical first assisting duties, and handling postoperative patient care management. This role aims to expedite surgical productivity by first assisting surgeons and second assisting when necessary.
Candidates must possess a BSN and have completed an RNFA program including didactic and supervised clinical practice based on AORN's core curriculum. Required credentials include current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse First Assist (CRNFA) from the North Carolina Board of Nursing and CNOR certification, along with a minimum of three years of experience in Perioperative Nursing.

The RN First Assist will support the continuity of care for Perioperative patients. The scope of practice includes preoperative patient care management, intraoperative surgical first assisting, and post operative patient care management. The role will help expedite surgical productivity, 2nd assist when needed, and first assist the surgeons.
