The Medical Laboratory Scientist provides state-of-the-art laboratory testing for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics, processing and testing specimens according to established policies and reviewing results for correct clinical interpretation. Essential duties include performing various analyses on blood and body fluids, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and accurately reporting results using the laboratory information system.
Candidates must possess a minimum baccalaureate degree from an approved college or university and be a graduate of an accredited school of medical technology or equivalent, along with being certified or registry-eligible as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Essential skills include proper techniques for basic clinical laboratory testing, knowledge of laboratory function, computer data terminal use, and the ability to communicate effectively orally and via telephone.
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, provides state of the art laboratory testing, from neonates to geriatric patients.
