The specialist provides flexible services supporting individuals with mental illness, acting as a consultant to the team by sharing personal recovery perspectives. Responsibilities include promoting recovery, participating in person-centered planning, and implementing evidence-based practices to improve service quality.
Candidates must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist with personal experience with Mental Illness and have received services from a Mental Health Provider. A valid Michigan Driver's License is required, and two years of experience is preferred.
Candidate must be Certified as a Peer Support Specialist, not a Recovery Specialist or Coach.
The Certified Peer Supports Specialist functions as part of a team to provide flexible services aimed at supporting, directly or indirectly, persons served. The Certified Peer Supports Specialist is an individual who possesses a unique perspective to treatment, due to his/her own personal experience with Mental Illness that professional training cannot replicate. They often act as a consultant to other team members, helping them understand the persons’ served perspectives and subjective experiences. This position has a high degree of person integrity, generates positive energy, and makes a difference every day.
