SEMCOA's (Southeast Massachusetts Council on Advocacy) mission is to advocate for and provide support to individuals, families, and communities in the areas of substance use, mental illness, domestic violence, homelessness, and parenting. SEMCOA operates four emergency assistance family shelters that provide supportive services to families and assist them with securing permanent housing. Substance Use Clinician Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains and submits any current Licensure or Certificate necessary for the performance of the position;
Crisis intervention;
Maintain assigned caseload;
Providing direct care to residents – including assessments, individual counseling, discharge and aftercare planning, treatment plans and updates, weekly progress notes, daily groups facilitation, group note completion, and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments;
Making referrals when appropriate;
Responsible for each assigned residents’ medical records. All records are to be professional, complete and thorough with entries made in a timely manner;
Responsible for linking resident’s with aftercare services prior to discharge and aiding the resident and his/her family access services when appropriate;
Communicating/involving family in treatment at resident’s request;
Request extensions after 90 days of treatment if needed;
Maintain professionalism when connecting with individuals collaterals;
Attend and participate in all unit, facility meetings, case conferences, Treatment Team meetings, and mandatory trainings, as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or Director;
Responsible for continued education in the field of substance use and related courses;
All other duties as assigned by Program Director / Clinical Supervisor.
