The Certified Respiratory Therapist assesses, treats, and cares for patients with breathing disorders, initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures, and maintaining patient records. Responsibilities include demonstrating competency in using ventilators, pulmonary diagnostics, and other required respiratory care equipment.
Candidates must possess an Associate degree from an approved Respiratory Care program, or a certificate of completion if licensed before December 31, 2008, with no prior experience required. The role demands proficiency in respiratory therapeutics, documentation, analytical reasoning, and effective communication within the healthcare team.
Education/Training Associate degree from an approved Respiratory Care program. (If licensed prior to December 31, 2008, a certificate of completion from an approved Respiratory Care program will be accepted.) Experience minimum of 5 years ADULT or PEDIACTRIC ICU experience
