The Surgical Technologist assists the surgeon by ensuring the operating room environment is safe and functional, handling necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies during operative procedures. Key tasks include maintaining aseptic technique, setting up the sterile field, handing items to the surgeon, labeling medications, preparing dressings, and participating in all procedural counts and sign-in/out processes.
Candidates must possess current Surgical Technician certification and a minimum of one year of recent experience in a Cardiac or Open Heart operating room setting. Education requires a High School Diploma or GED, along with completion of a CST program or certification.
