The candidate must ensure the facility complies with all state and federal regulations concerning MDS, including timely reporting to CMS, as this data directly affects facility reimbursement. Effective communication with residents, families, and the healthcare team is also essential.
Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical, psychological, and psychosocial health, documenting their findings according to the MDS process.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (doctors, therapists, social workers, etc.) to develop and implement individualized care plans based on the MDS assessment.
Ensure that the facility adheres to all state and federal regulations regarding the MDS, including timely and accurate reporting to CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services).
MDS data directly impacts Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement for the facility, so MDS nurses play a crucial role in ensuring accurate billing and revenue.
Communicate with residents, families, and the healthcare team, acting as a liaison between different stakeholders.
