The primary duties involve conducting thorough assessments of residents' health status using the MDS process and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans. This role also ensures facility compliance with state and federal MDS regulations, which directly impacts Medicare and Medicaid revenue.
The role requires conducting detailed resident assessments, documenting findings according to the MDS process, and ensuring regulatory adherence for accurate billing. Effective communication and collaboration with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team are essential functions.
Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical, psychological, and psychosocial health, documenting their findings according to the MDS process.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (doctors, therapists, social workers, etc.) to develop and implement individualized care plans based on the MDS assessment.
Ensure that the facility adheres to all state and federal regulations regarding the MDS, including timely and accurate reporting to CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services).
MDS data directly impacts Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement for the facility, so MDS nurses play a crucial role in ensuring accurate billing and revenue.
Communicate with residents, families, and the healthcare team, acting as a liaison between different stakeholders.
