The Direct Support Professional will support the goals of the person served by assisting with mobility, daily living activities, health management, and fostering community integration. Responsibilities include monitoring safety 24/7, assisting with personal care, and supporting participation in social and leisure activities.
Candidates must possess a strong desire to help others, demonstrating empathy, patience, trustworthiness, and integrity, while respecting diversity and maintaining professionalism. Required qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED, a valid State of Michigan driver's license, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and the capacity to become certified in CPR/First Aid.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports the individual goals of the person served and helps them become integrated into his/ her community in the least restrictive manner. The DSP may assist in areas of mobility, activities of daily living, communication, cognition, health management, social networking, vocational, leisure time management, and community participation.
