The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies, setting up equipment, administering treatments as ordered, and monitoring patients on continuous ventilation. Key duties also involve performing diagnostic tests, assisting with intubations, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the quality and safety of all respiratory therapy services.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and satisfactory completion of an Associate of Science program from an accredited respiratory therapy school, along with passing the NBRC exam to achieve CRT or RRT credential. Required certifications include current Nevada licenses for Respiratory Care Practitioner and Blood Gas Technologist, along with current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
