The Respiratory Care Staff Technician functions in a limited capacity, providing routine respiratory care under the clinical supervision of a Manager or Charge Therapist. This role requires practical knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology appropriate to the patient's age.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program and eligible for the NBRC certification exam, or be in good standing in an AMA-approved program. A current Ohio State Medical Board Limited Permit and active BLS Certification through the American Heart Association are mandatory.

The Respiratory Care Staff Technician (S.T.) is currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program and functions in a limited capacity, exclusively within the realm of routine respiratory care. Practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system is required to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients receiving respiratory care. The S.T. will function under the clinical supervision and guidance of the Manager or Charge Therapist.
The Respiratory Care Staff Technician must demonstrate beginning and intermediate knowledge of clinical application and theoretical respiratory principles consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the respiratory care profession. The Respiratory Care Staff Technician must be able to assess and interpret basic data about the patient’s health status to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care.
