The Surgical Technician First Assistant (SFA) supports the continuity of care for Perioperative patients, primarily through intraoperative surgical first assisting under the surgeon's direct supervision. Responsibilities include assisting in surgical procedures, providing intraoperative and preoperative care, and ensuring safe utilization of equipment based on patient needs.
A minimum of two years of Surgical Technician experience along with current STFA certification is required for this role. Candidates should have completed a Surgical Technician First Assistant Program adhering to AST/NIFA core curriculum and must obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
The Surgical Technician First Assistant (SFA) will support the continuity of care for Perioperative patients. The scope of practice includes intraoperative surgical first assisting. The SFA will provide intraoperative surgical care under the direct supervision of the surgeon for all ages and/or provide direction to the perioperative team where needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
