The Respiratory Therapist provides administrative support, including formal education, and acts as a clinical resource for cardiopulmonary dysfunctions. They perform prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic interventions while consulting with physicians and the health team to establish treatment schedules.
Required qualifications include successful completion of education for a Respiratory Therapist as defined by the NBRC and holding a PA Respiratory Care License and Reg Respiratory Therapist certification, along with Basic Life Support certification. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy and one year of experience in routine/critical care, including non-conventional ventilation modes.
Provides administrative support such as conducting formal education and acts as a resource for clinical issues when needed. Performs prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and functions as a resource person to achieve therapeutic goals in the care of patient's cardiopulmonary dysfunctions. Consults with physicians and other health team members to determine treatment procedures and time schedules. Actively participates in in-service education, infection control and performance improvement programs.
Education Other Successful completion of education requirements for qualification as a Respiratory Therapist as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Required Other Graduate from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy program Preferred Associate's Degree Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program Preferred
Experience 1 year experience in respiratory care in a clinical setting including routine and critical care Preferred 1 year experience with non-conventional modes of ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) Preferred
