The Mammography Technologist I performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, ensuring high-quality images through proper positioning and technique while adhering strictly to safety and regulatory standards. This role also involves educating patients and assisting radiologists with specialized invasive procedures like biopsies and localizations.
Candidates must possess 1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging, preferably 2-4 years as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting, along with required state licensure and ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography (or eligibility to obtain). Essential knowledge includes proficiency in mammographic positioning, regulatory compliance (FDA/MQSA, ACR), and strong patient communication skills.

The Mammography Technologist I is responsible for performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to assist in the detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to patient-centered care. The Mammography Technologist I works collaboratively with Radiologists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate imaging and patient comfort while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and regulatory standards, including FDA/MQSA and ACR requirements.
1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging required 2-4 years experience as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting preferred
Proficiency in mammographic positioning, imaging techniques, and radiation safety standards. Strong understanding of FDA/MQSA, ACR, and state regulatory compliance requirements for mammography. Ability to effectively communicate and provide patient education with empathy and professionalism. Knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques for mammography-guided procedures. Attention to detail in documenting patient information, reports, and image storage requirements. Proficiency in PACS, electronic medical records (EMR), and mammography equipment operation. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in technical troubleshooting and patient care situations.
