The Histotechnologist processes surgical, autopsy, and study specimens through fixation, microtomy, and staining for pathologic diagnosis. They are also responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, performing quality control, and managing reagent supplies.
An Associate's degree and graduation from an approved school of Histotechnology are required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates must hold a current Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license and be HT or HTL certified (or eligible) via ASCP.
The Histotechnologist I processes surgical, autopsy, and study specimens for pathologic diagnosis. Responsibilities include tissue fixation, processing, freezing, microtomy, frozen sectioning, and staining slides for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.
