The Ophthalmic Technician will document patients’ medical and ocular histories, perform patient workups, and complete various diagnostic tests. They will also provide patient education and perform other assigned duties.
Candidates must have ophthalmic experience and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent patient care experience and critical thinking skills are also required.
Document patients’ medical and ocular histories in the electronic medical record. Perform patient workups. Complete diagnostic testing, such as retinoscopy, manual refraction, applanation A-scan, keratometry, tonometry, OCTs, and visual fields. Provide patient education according to physician instructions. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Qualifications: Ophthalmic experience is required. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Experience providing excellent patient care. Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and communicate concerns regarding the results of diagnostic testing. Ideal candidates would be skilled in: Manual Refraction Applanation A-scan Manual Keratometry Tonometry Visual Fields Retinoscopy Optical coherence Tomography (OCT) Fluorescein Angiography Fundus and optic nerve photography Corneal Topography Slit Lamp Photography B-scans Daytime travel required. When traveling outside your base clinic, travel time and mileage will be reimbursed.
