The Colorectal Surgeon diagnoses and treats diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, performing complex minimally invasive and open surgical procedures while providing comprehensive perioperative care. This role also involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, educating patients, and participating in teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Candidates must possess expertise in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted colorectal surgery, along with experience managing complex colorectal cancers and benign conditions. A dedication to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, quality outcomes, teaching, and professional development is required, along with the ability to clear background and drug tests.
The Colorectal Surgeon provides advanced surgical and non-surgical care for patients with benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. This role involves performing diagnostic evaluations, complex surgical interventions, and minimally invasive procedures, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The Colorectal Surgeon also participates in teaching, research, and institutional initiatives that promote excellence in colorectal disease management.
Diagnose and treat colorectal conditions including cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diverticulitis, anorectal disorders, and pelvic floor dysfunction. Perform a wide range of procedures including minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic-assisted) and open surgeries. Provide perioperative and postoperative care, ensuring optimal recovery and outcomes. Collaborate with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists in developing comprehensive treatment plans. Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case discussions, and quality improvement projects. Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatment options, procedures, risks, and recovery expectations. Mentor and supervise residents, fellows, and medical students. Maintain thorough and timely documentation consistent with hospital and regulatory standards. Engage in clinical research, innovation, or scholarly activity related to colorectal surgery. Uphold professional, ethical, and safety standards in all aspects of practice. Participation in on-call coverage as assigned. Involvement in both elective and emergency surgical cases.
