The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for administering anesthetics, monitoring patients under anesthesia, and initiating corrective actions based on professional judgment and established protocols. This includes performing comprehensive preoperative assessments, managing anesthesia during procedures, and providing post-anesthesia care, often functioning as a collaborative team member.
Candidates must graduate from accredited schools of nursing and anesthesia, hold national CRNA certification, and possess Michigan licenses for registered nursing and specialty certification in anesthesia. A Master's degree in anesthesia or a related field is preferred.
