The technologist performs computed tomography procedures, including administering contrast and using complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, and documentation. Responsibilities also involve ensuring proper coding, tracking, networking, and charging for all performed exams within the RIS and ISITE systems.
Applicants must be graduates of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or complete an accredited CNMT program, with ARRT or CNMT registry required within specific timeframes post-hire. Required clearances include BLS/CPR, and various state/FBI clearances, with experience potentially qualifying for shift differentials and incentives.
Performs computed tomography procedures, including contrast administration, and utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, and documentation of image data. Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed. Administers PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assesses patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast. Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation. Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect. Able to work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently. Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required. Demonstrates proper technique in venipuncture.
Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program. ARRT registry-eligible technologists must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date. CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if ARRT is already obtained. CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6 months of hire date.
ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (CNMT) Must obtain CT Board Certification within 18 months of hire date or primary registry acquisition. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI clearance with renewals.
