The Physician is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of life for hospice patients by managing symptoms, overseeing admissions, certifications, and medication, and developing individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team. This role involves maintaining empathetic communication with patients and families, coordinating care with other providers, and being available for acute clinical problems or joint visits.
Candidates must possess a Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school, an unencumbered state medical license, and good standing on the medical staff of at least one contracted hospital. Preferred qualifications include Board certification in hospice and palliative medicine and Hospice Medical Director certification.
Responsible for ensuring the highest quality of life for patients during their final stages, focusing on comfort, dignity, and emotional support. It works closely with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, chaplains and hospice Aides, to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
