The technician performs Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) and CPX testing, including arterial blood gas testing, while accurately assessing patient cooperation and demonstrating knowledge of related pharmacology. Responsibilities also include assembling and troubleshooting PFT devices, performing quality assurance, communicating findings to physicians, and maintaining accurate records.
Required education is an Associate's Degree from an accredited respiratory care program, along with a minimum of six months of experience in a Pulmonary Function Lab. Candidates must possess a Texas Medical Board License and NBRC Registration upon hire, plus obtain RPFT and CPFT certifications within 180 days.

Required Education Associate's Degree - Graduate of accredited program in respiratory care Experience Six months in Pulmonary Function Lab A.A.S Licenses and Certifications Texas Medical Board License by the TMB Upon Hire and Registered by the NBRC Upon Hire (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT Certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) Upon Hire (RPFT) REGISTERED PULM FUNC TECH within 180 Days (CPFT) CERTIFIED PULM FUNC TECH within 180 Days Specialty areas may have increased certification/license requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care. Preferred Education Bachelor's Degree - Graduate of accredited program in respiratory care Experience 1 year of Pulmonary Function experience.
