The assistant works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide personal care to patients, performing specified tasks like simple wound care, EKGs, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting based on validated competency. Responsibilities also include maintaining a safe work environment, accurately completing clinical documentation, and assisting with patient admission, discharge, or transfer.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, though one year of prior hospital healthcare experience is preferred. Required certifications include CPR/BLS upon hire, and either a Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) or an accepted equivalent such as EMT-B, CMA/RMA, or current enrollment in an LPN/RN program with 80 clinical hours completed.
