The Certified Pathologist Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross description, and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens under the direction and supervision of a licensed, board-certified pathologist. They must ensure the provision of high-quality services in accordance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a science field like Biology or Chemistry, completion of an NAACLS accredited Pathologist Assistant Program, and ASCP Certification (PA) or obtaining it within one year of hire. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or additional ASCP certifications like HT or HTL.
