The Certified Medical Assistant supports a decentralized, patient-centered approach by performing multi-skilled activities, including assisting in patient examination and treatment under physician direction. Key duties involve interviewing patients, accurately measuring and recording vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with completion of an accredited medical assisting program, though one year of patient care experience is preferred. Candidates must maintain current certification from AMT, AAMA, NHA, or MedCA, and possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
