Peer Support Specialists engage, inspire, and facilitate meaningful conversations to help members explore and meet their personal recovery goals. They also provide consultation to the team to reinforce the organization's Recovery Culture and respond to critical situations using high-level engagement and de-escalation skills.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and maintain Peer Certification, including obtaining the California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification prior to hire. Essential requirements also include prior experience as a beneficiary of the Behavioral Health system of care and possessing a valid driver's license with personal vehicle insurance for client transport.

Peer Support Specialists engage, inspire, and facilitate meaningful conversations with members served that assist the person to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals. Peer Support Specialists provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS), in which each member’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Support Specialists respond to critical situations with high level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for individuals experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge.
Expected starting wage is $21.00. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Based on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model, STRIDES of Alameda County is an intensive community support service for 120 individuals with severe mental illness (SMI), between the ages of 18-62, who are considered to be at great risk for psychiatric hospitalization.
