The specialist provides direct care and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home, assisting with all activities of daily living including hygiene, medication self-administration, and community access. This role also involves implementing behavior management programs and ensuring a productive, safe environment while serving as a positive role model.
Candidates must be knowledgeable in teaching adaptive living skills and planning social activities for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, possessing the ability to assess functional levels and observe situational behaviors. Essential abilities include clear documentation of progress and exercising sound judgment to maintain resident health and safety.
