As a registered nurse, the role involves assuming primary accountability for nursing coordination and providing individualized care to patients of all ages, utilizing delegation and critical thinking skills in a collaborative team approach. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimum outcomes, administering treatments and medications accurately, and identifying patient/family educational needs.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited professional nursing school or an approved program eligible for the Virginia licensure exam, and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain licensure. Required certification is AHA BLS-HCP, with potential requirements for ACLS, PALS, or NRP depending on the unit, along with necessary computer skills for the electronic medical record system (EPIC).
