The CT Technologist is responsible for collecting patient information, explaining procedures, positioning patients, administering contrast, selecting equipment parameters, performing scans, and organizing images for transfer to PACS. They must also ensure communication regarding Acute Stroke patients and perform necessary point-of-care testing.
Required qualifications include graduation from an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school and holding current registration as a CT Technologist with ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT). Candidates must also possess the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

1. Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications. 2. Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination. 3. Positions patient and administers oral, rectal or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary. 4. Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information. 5. Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy. 6. Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system. 7. Aids with transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and Inpatient areas. 8. Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols. 9. Perform POC iSTAT testing and screen for contrast contraindications. 10. Enters patient charges into computer. 11. Monitors equipment for functionality and performance. Refers noted problems to the CT Supervisor. 12. Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary. 13. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor
REQUIRED Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school Registered CT Technologist with the ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) PREFERRED Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning. Ability to insert intravenous catheter
