The Surgical Technologist assists surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating, and passing necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, while also providing retraction under the surgeon's direction. A primary duty involves maintaining the highest standard of aseptic technique throughout all operative procedures and resolving any breaches in technique.
Candidates must complete an accredited Surgical Technologist Program and are required to pass the Certification Examination within one year of employment, maintaining certification thereafter. Essential qualifications include well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate commitment to the organization's mission and values.
