Mohs Micrographic Surgeon / Dermatologist (MD/DO)Position Summary The Mohs Dermatologist provides specialized medical and surgical care for patients with skin cancer, with a primary focus on Mohs micrographic surgery. This role includes the diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction of cutaneous malignancies, delivering precise, tissue-sparing care while ensuring optimal oncologic and cosmetic outcomes. Essential
Evaluate and manage patients with cutaneous malignancies, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma in situ Perform Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers in accordance with established clinical standards Interpret histopathologic slides during Mohs procedures Perform surgical reconstruction and repair following Mohs excision Provide longitudinal dermatologic care and postoperative follow-up Collaborate with general dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ENT surgeons, and oncologists as appropriate Educate patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, procedural expectations, and preventive skin care Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Supervise and educate fellows, residents, nursing staff, and clinical support personnel as applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited dermatology residency program Completion of an accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship Board-eligible or board-certified in Dermatology Eligibility for or certification in Mohs Micrographic Surgery as applicable Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure DEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies Expertise in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology Proficiency in dermatologic surgery and reconstruction techniques Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality outcomes Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety Work Environment Outpatient dermatologic surgery clinics and procedure suites Typically weekday schedules with minimal or no call depending on practice structure Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures Manual dexterity for fine surgical and histologic techniques Visual acuity sufficient for microscopic slide interpretation and surgical precision Facility will sponsor J1 or H1B visa candidates for 2027 Must maintain state certification and/or licensure. Must be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which you are assigned.
