Provide comprehensive medical care for gastrointestinal, liver, pancreas, and biliary system disorders through outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and endoscopic procedures. This includes diagnosing, managing, and treating acute and chronic conditions with evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Requires a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), completion of accredited Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship, and board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology. An active or eligible state medical license and DEA registration are also necessary.
Gastroenterologist (MD/DO)Position Summary The Gastroenterologist provides comprehensive medical care for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This role includes outpatient clinical care, inpatient consultation, and performance of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures while delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions Provide outpatient gastroenterology clinic services and inpatient consultative care Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical guidelines Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests, imaging studies, pathology, and endoscopy results Manage patients with liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, functional GI disorders, and GI bleeding Collaborate with primary care providers, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record Participate in call coverage and endoscopy unit responsibilities as required Adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives
